| The Lim-2 was manufactured under license in Poland and was almost an exact copy of the late production Russian MiG-15bis. The company with the license was WSK "PZL- Mielec" located in Mielec and in the 1950s quickly became the biggest aircraft producer in Poland. Production of over 500 Lim-2 aircraft and licensed VK-1 engines, named the Lis-2 took place from 1953 to 1956. The 1st Fighter Regiment “Warsawa” was formed on July 7 1943 as the 1st Independent Fighter Squadron. On August 20 1943 renamed the Polish 1st Fighter Regiment and finally the 1st Fighter Regiment “Warsawa” on October 1943. During 1959 the 1st FR was based in Minsk Mazowiecki Air Base flying the Lim-2 Fagot B.
